Conditions need to be altered

Current conditions and circumstances are always presented as major impediments to change. We spend most of our time and effort coming up with solutions to existing problems and planning how to implement them in ways that deliver better outcomes than the last one we came up with. This linear approach is very well suited to many contexts where small-steps incremental improvements have proven their worth. It is not very well suited though to effect the deep, radical shifts such as those called for in our current civilisational context. Existence is a hard place. The lock-in effects of past decisions, the inertia of entropic systems, organisational rigidities and mounting social-ecological challenges are all functional challenges that need to be contended with. There is also a more insidious blockage to change, one that is deeply enmeshed in ourselves, our thinking and perception of reality. This inner dimension is typically left aside or at best the object of declaration of principles vowing paradigm shifts that, if genuine and well intended, seem in retrospect quite hollow and ineffective at best.  

The crafting of conscious shocks is a core process of our work. It consists in destabilising the inertia of a system both in its outer manifestation and the inner processing of reality by its members. It is an exercise designed to disrupt what we know (or don't know that we know and hold as objective and unalterable) and to enter the reaml of what we don't know that we don't know. This allows a group of people to access a higher ground, reframe their goals and unveil higher orders of potential that effectively and concretely change the terms in which they conceive of their work. it is a way of lifting the gravitational weight of existence, altering the limiting conditions of problems at hand and shift the inner and outer focus of the work simultaneously. ​

A higher order of reality can be manifested

As in permaculture, whose practitioners hold the belief that yield is virtually unlimited, we think that a higher order of reality is available to us as individuals, our organisations, countries and Earth as a whole. Wether we can develop in time to manifest it is up to us and the quality and focus of the developmental efforts we will manage to summon.
